Winter Weather Advisory Issue For Schuylkill County

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING...


THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN STATE COLLEGE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND SLEET...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING.

* ACCUMULATIONS...SNOW ACCUMULATION OF 2 TO 4 INCHES...ALONG WITH AROUND ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH OF ICE.

* ICE ACCUMULATIONS...AROUND ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH.

* HAZARD TYPES...SNOW.

* TIMING...A SLOW MOVING BAND OF LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO DRIFT OVER THE AREA THROUGH EARLY EVENING. THE SNOW WILL DIMINISH TO FLURRIES AND SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS BETWEEN 6 AND 9 PM.

* IMPACTS...UNTREATED...MAINLY SECONDARY...ROADS COULD BE HAZARDOUS FROM A LAYER OF ICE AND SNOW. VISIBILITY COULD BRIEFLY DROP TO AROUND ONE QUARTER OF A MILE IN THE HEAVIEST SNOW BANDS. USE CAUTION IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING.

* WINDS...NORTHWEST AROUND 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH.

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE UPPER 30S.
