Yuengling Ice Cream Donates First Cases For Charity

When the iconic Yuengling Ice Cream relaunched earlier this year, one promise they made was that they would donate three percent of it's profits to charity.

Last month, when those first quarts began rolling off the production line, the first case of each flavor was saved for the purpose other than sales.

“We learned via our social media pages that there are plenty of Yuengling collectors with vintage ice cream memorabilia,” said David Yuengling, president of Yuengling’s Ice Cream. “Then, with the popularity of the ice cream following the relaunch, we thought the first quarts might be of interest to those collectors.”

The first 10 flavors that were produced were all donated to charities and nonprofits to help them raise money.

“Both David and I try to give back to the community in our personal lives,” said Bohorad, the company’s COO. “Donating the first cases of our ice cream seemed like a great way to get the company on track to helping, too, in a fun way.”

According to a press release received from the company:

  • The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania auctioned off the first case of "Vanilla" at it's 2014 Red ball
  • The Hillside SPCA raffled two quarts of "Root Beer Float" during it's Mardi Gras Party.
  • The American Cancer Society auctioned two quarts of "Vanilla Fudge Chunk" at its 36th Annual Telethon at the Laurel Mall in Hazleton.
  • The Pottsville Free Public Library will auction off "Chocolate Chip" at an event in the fall
  • Schuylkill Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance will auction off the first case of "Black and Tan" at a later event.
