Coal Region Connections: Postie's Birch Beer

SUMMERTIME, JULY 4TH PICNICS, FIRE COMPANY BLOCK PARTIES, CHURCH FESTIVALS, COMPANY OUTINGS, WEDDINGS--all had 1 thing in common throughout the coal region decades ago. Click LIKE if you remember & loved POSTIE'S delicious birch beer soda on tap.

There were many small soda manufacturers scattered throughout the coal region. But a majority of folks will say when it came to birch beer on tap, whether it was dark or clear--Postie's was the best!

Postie's in McAdoo filed with the state in June, 1951. Anybody recall Postie's making soda deliveries to homes? Remember the Postie's returnable soda bottles pictured below. What was your favorite Postie's bottle flavor? Black cherry...cream...cherry smash, grapefruit, grape, orange? And back in the old days--soda was referred to as "soda pop" & "pop".

Yes, decades ago a cup of ice-cold Postie's birch beer after a couple rounds of horseshoes really hit the spot. Those Atlas picnics at Angela Park & Bundy picnics at Dorney Park both featured Postie's birch beer on tap. Where else do you remember drinking Postie's birch beer?

A happy & safe July 4th holiday everyone & remember--Don't Drink & Drive This Holiday Weekend (unless you have a private stash of Postie's birch beer somewhere)

And as always, thanks for your LIKES, SHARES, & COMMENTS.
