Yuengling Ice Cream Places in New Jersey State Ice Cream Festival.

Just four months after returning to shelves from a nearly 30-year hiatus, Yuengling’s Ice Cream placed in two categories at the New Jersey State Ice Cream Festival on July 19, 2014.

Yuengling’s submitted its Black and Tan flavor in the People’s Choice category, the festival’s main competition. In this category, companies submit a feature flavor, and the more than 5,000 festival attendees vote for their favorite. Black and Tan was a front-runner and placed second in the People’s Choice category, just trailing behind Hoffman’s Ice Cream, a local shop, for its Coffee Oreo flavor.

In addition to People’s Choice, Yuengling’s submitted its Vanilla to the Special Judges category. Vanilla is the only flavor that can be submitted in this category; Yuengling’s took third place.

Another New Jersey-based ice cream shop, 2 Sisters Frozen Custard, took first place in the Special Judges category with Hoffman’s claiming second place.

“We are thrilled to place in both competitions at this year’s festival, especially being so new,” said David Yuengling, president of Yuengling’s Ice Cream. “This area of New Jersey is a relatively new market for us, so we’re thrilled that it was so well-received.”
