Schuylkill Musicians: Skook Music and Schedule of Schuylkill County Bands for the Month of August

We would like to introduce and welcome "Schuylkill Musicians".

By:  Schuylkill Musicians, K.M.

The one thing that has been the same for years in Schuylkill County has been the creation of great music. The Dorsey Brothers in the 1920’s, and then later the Jordan Brothers brought Skook music to the world. Before they “Talked Dirty” Poison played in Skook . Ten years ago the PA Musician magazine was so full of bands, shows, and venues that it was 2 sections with the first part being almost exclusively bands. Bands in the early 2000’s didn’t all have websites, there were no social networking. Shows were plugged by word of mouth, posters and mailing lists.

Today Skook music is just as powerful and special as ever, if not more. Websites, social network pages and merchandise is made and plugged before a band has complete members or shows booked but to the credit of these bands there looking at the big picture and being known is a step up in the industry.

There are more than 80 musicians and bands filling Skook with great music every day, every week, every month and year after year. From day one we have been here to remind people that music isn’t just on Pandora, iTunes, and the Radio. The People make the music scene better and better not just the ones on stage. People made the Dorsey’s, people made Breaking Benjamin, and People made Grammy award winning band Halestorm not just great but made the area better.

The next time you’re online, or where ever you are and see there is a band or performer of any kind, remember you are the reason they’re out there and they are making the area better. So why not head out to the fairs, block parties or local venues and show your support to these talented people and most of all your support of Schuylkill County.

Here are the places you can find this talent in Skook in the month of August, remember to check out Facebook page for other shows that might come up and read some of our features on some of the many talented artists.
