Yuengling Ice Cream Launches Contest to Find Taste Testers

Yuengling’s Ice Cream, recently reintroduced after a nearly 30-year hiatus, is looking for a few good men and women with excellent taste. It is holding a contest to find 12 “ultimate fans” who will serve as its official taste-testing team. The winners will help to choose the flavors that will appear on the shelves.

“We’re constantly working to create delicious new flavors to add to our existing line,” said David Yuengling, president of Yuengling’s Ice Cream. “We think the best way to narrow down our choices is to get input from the people buying our ice cream.”

The current Yuengling’s Ice Cream line features 10 premium flavors, including its signature flavor – Black & Tan, a creamy swirl of Belgian chocolate and salted caramel ice creams. The name is a nod to the company’s historical ties to the Yuengling Brewery, though there is no beer in the ice cream. Black & Tan is the company’s best-selling ice cream, followed closely by its traditional Vanilla.

To enter the contest, fans need to submit a short description by September 9, telling Yuengling’s Ice Cream why they’re the ultimate fan and should be one of the judges. Yuengling’s will choose the 12 winners and announce them via social media on September 16; the winners will also be contacted individually.

The 12 members of the official team will be mailed samples whenever Yuengling’s would like to test a new flavor. In return, they’ll fill out a form about the flavor, texture and other components of the ice cream to help Yuengling’s decide if it should go to market.

The contest is open to residents of the contiguous 48 states, 18 and over. For official rules visit www.yuenglingsicecream.com.

Started in 1920, Yuengling’s Ice Cream was on the shelves for 65 years and was reintroduced by its founder’s great grandson in early 2014. The ice cream is currently available in 10 states and Washington, D.C.
