Tamaqua Area Community Partnership to celebrate 20th Anniversary on Wednesday

TAMAQUA – On Wednesday, November 19, local leaders from the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership (TACP) will celebrate 20 years of success at 6 p.m. at the Tamaqua Arts Center at 125 Pine Street.

Hosted by Senator David G. Argall (R-29), the event will feature presentations from Borough Council President Micah Gursky, Representative Jerry Knowles (R-124), Lee Shafer, owner of Shafer’s Pharmacy, Jim and Mary Joan Kevlin, Barry Denk of the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, and others instrumental over the last two decades in the Tamaqua area’s renaissance.

The event will recap some of the major successes of TACP, as well as highlight new and exciting opportunities for the community.

One of the major successes of TACP includes the “Save Our Station” initiative, which involved rescuing the blighted 1874 train station. The train station now houses an upscale restaurant and a community park and serves as an illustration of progress in the community.

“One thing is for certain, we have some very exciting prospects on the horizon for the Tamaqua area,” Argall said.

Local residents and media are encouraged to attend.
