17 Year Old Identified from Fatal Crash Near Tamaqua

According to the Times News, the 17 Year Old that died in Sunday morning's crash on Route 309 near Tamaqua has been identified.


Tamaqua Police said Autumn Lynn Young, 17, of Nesquehoning, was driving north in a 2000 Chrysler Sebring when she lost control on a snow-covered curve, entered the southbound lanes, and struck a 2009 Nissan SUV driven by Nancy Ann Evans, 56, Macungie.

Young's driver's door was broadsided by the SUV. The Chrysler then spun 180 degrees and ejected Young on to the roadway.

A third vehicle, a 1999 Honda CRV driven by Robert Butcher of Morrisville, approached the scene as the collision was taking place, police said. Butcher saw the crash happening and deliberately drove into the snowbank to avoid it. His CRV was later pulled from the snowbank and was able to be driven away.
