Pottsville Man Facing Assault Charges After Alleged Stabbing

A Pottsville man is facing assault charges after he allegedly stabbed a woman early Monday Morning.


According to Pottsville Police, a man was arrested around 2:30am Monday morning outside Sarge's Bar after a woman's hand was cut during a physical altercation during which she was defending herself and another male.

The woman was treated at the scene by EMS.

The investigating officers were told by the woman that the man arrested had been making derogatory comments to her inside the establishment earlier in the evening before they left and encountered him again outside.

According to WNEP, the man arrested was Anthony Harkins, 29, of Pottsville.

According to court documents Harkins is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, and harassment and is still locked up on $25,000 bail.
