Backyard Compost Clinic

Fall is very near and just in time to help deal with the leaves that will be falling the Penn State Master Gardeners present a Backyard Compost Clinic on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Sweet Arrow Lake County Park Clubhouse.

Deciduous trees are about to share their carbon rich brown leaves for gardening use. Learn how to make the best mulch and soil amendment around. Composted leaves are especially useful in the garden, flower beds and even to improve lawn health. Master Gardeners will offer a number of ways to construct a home composting barrel and area, give out helpful troubleshooting guides, and list the do’s and don’ts of composting. Yes, everything once living will decompose but SOME of it shouldn’t go in the compost bin.

Admission is FREE.
