Fire Damages Apartment Building Overnight in Tamaqua

Emergency Personnel were called to an apartment building fire around midnight Thursday morning in Tamaqua.


The fire at 210 Washington was upgraded quickly to a 2nd alarm structure fire when crews arrived.   The fire was mainly the upper levels of the 4 unit building.  Firefighters had the fire under control within a half hour of arriving but remained on scene overnight putting out hotspots.

According to TamaquaArea.com 7 people have been displaced by the fire.  The Salvation Army is providing temporary shelter for one of the victims.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and a state police fire marshal is expected to be at the scene Thursday.
