Man Facing Robbery and Drug Charges

On September 19, 2015 at 8:13 PM, Shenandoah Police responded to the area of Jardin and Coal Streets for a strong armed robbery.


Officers arrived on scene and spoke with two victims who indicated a male tried to rob them. The victims indicated that the male demanded that they empty out their pockets. The male then took a set of keys from the victims and demanded their wallets. The victims fled the area and immediately called police.

Police immediately began to search the area and took the male into custody a few blocks away. The suspect was identified as Michael Thomas Dower; a 20 year old male. The victims identified the male as the suspect. Dower was searched and police discovered he was in possession of a bag of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Dower admitted to police that he was under the influence of the psychedelic drug, "acid."

Dower was arraigned by District Magistrate Plachko on the charges of: Robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and harassment.

Dower was unable to post the straight cash bail of $25,000 and will remain in the Schuylkill County Prison until his preliminary hearing.
