Police Officer Flown After Being Assaulted

An officer was flown after being assaulted in West Penn Township Wednesday evening.

According to the Times News, a West Penn Police Township Officer stopped to assist a disabled vehicle on Route 309 on the Blue Mountain.  When they approached the vehicle, a black male picked up the officer and threw them over an embankment.

The officer was flown to an area hospital from their injuries.

Route 309 was closed in the area while the incident was investigated by State Police.

UPDATE:  11:10PM - Be on the lookout:  State Police are looking for a Hispanic Male, 6' 2"-6'4" in height, weighing approx. 240-260 lbs, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans and driving a dark colored Nissan Maxima.
