Man Charged with Assaulting Police Officer

A Pottsville man was charged late Thursday for allegedly assaulting a police officer at an incident Wednesday morning.

According to the Times News, Jonathan Michael Pauly, 21, of Pottsville, was arrested by Tamaqua Police Thursday evening on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.

Tamaqua Borough Police had responded to another incident when the Coaldale Police was dispatched to Tamaqua for a report of a prowler.

Pauly reportedly attempted to push the responding officer over an embankment while the officer attempted to handcuff him.  Pauly was able to get away but was found late Thursday in Tamaqua.
