Planned Water Shutdown and Boil Water Advisory Scheduled for Friday into Saturday

A planned water shutdown and boil water advisory is scheduled for Friday for parts of Pottsville in Schuylkill County.

According to the Schuylkill County Municipal Authority,

Due to a necessary repair to a water main, we are planning a shut down on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10:00 PM to complete the repairs. You may experience a loss of water in a portion of our distribution system at that time until mid-afternoon on Saturday, June 11, 2016. Affected customers are located in the following areas of Pottsville:
  • 300-1398 Laurel Blvd
  • 305-1025 West Race St.
  • All of Mine, Speacht, Grant, Vine Streets
  • 601-1447 West Market St.
  • 300-1440 West Norwegian St.
  • 214-1132 Mahantongo St.
  • 201-725 West Howard Ave.
  • 200-523 Schuylkill Ave.
  • 2nd St. from Howard Ave. heading south to dead end
  • 3rd St. between Laurel Blvd. and Race St.
  • 3rd St. between West Division St. and Union St.
  • 4th St. between Laurel Blvd. and Race St.
  • 4th St. between West Division St. and Union St.
  • 5th St. between West Division St. and Pierce St.
  • 6th St. between Sillyman St. and Pierce St.
  • 7th St. between Arch St. and Howard Ave.
  • 8th St. between Laurel Blvd. and Howard Ave.
  • 9th St. between Burd St. and Howard Ave.
  • 10th St. between Burd St. and Howard Ave.
  • 11th St. between West Market St. and Howard Ave.
  • 12th St. between Laurel Blvd. and Howard Ave.
  • 13th St. between West Market and Johnson St.
  • 14th St. between West Market and Johnson St.
  • 15th St. between West Market and Norwegian St.
Upon completion of the repair, water service will be restored, however, a boil water advisory will be in effect for those customers that experienced a complete loss of water during this event. Affected customers should boil their water for a minimum of 1 minute before drinking. In preparation for this planned shutdown, you may want to obtain bottled water or fill containers for use during the water outage.
