Minersville Man Charged with Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance and Public Drunkenness

SHENANDOAH - On Wednesday, July 13, 2016 , Shenandoah Police Officers were conducting a vehicle stop in the 100 block of S Main St when a male walked nearby, staggering and appearing to remove his pants.

The male was identified as Lewis Kovach, 25, ofMinersville. 

He told officers that he was trying to avoid “being beat-up again”.

Kovach admitted to officers that he had recently consumed methamphetamine and alcohol. He was charged with Pedestrians under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances and Public drunkenness.

Man Charged with Trespassing and False Identification

SHENANDOAH - On Friday, July 15, 2016, Shenandoah Police received a report of an intoxicated male who broke into an empty building at 15 N Main St. in the borough.

The owner of the building directed police to the location inside the house. 

Officers found the male lying on the floor surrounded by beer cans. The male identified himself as Carmelo Flores but police could not verify his identity after he supplied a date-of-birth. 

Flores was taken to the PA State Police in Frackville for a fingerprint scan, which revealed several outstanding warrants for Flores under various names and dates-of-birth. 

Flores was charged with felony Trespass along with False identification to law enforcement and criminal mischief. 

He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier, Orwigsburg, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
