Schuylkill County Announces New Emergency Alert and Community Notification System

The Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency & Schuylkill County Local Emergency Planning Committee are pleased to announce a new County Public Emergency Alert and Community Notification System for County and Municipal usage.

The Schuylkill County Board of Commissioners entered into agreement with SwiftReach Networks in July to provide this service. The project has been funded through a homeland security grant through the East Central Task Force.

The system allows residents to receive alerts from Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency or participating local municipalities via text, email, land-line phone, or using a mobile application. Residents can sign-up to subscribe to the messages they would like to receive such as Severe Weather Warning, Severe Weather Alerts, Interstate 81 Road Closures, and local Road Closures. There are no fees associated with subscription.

For Municipalities that would like to utilize the system for community notifications such as trash pick-up changes, no parking bans, and other day to day messaging, there is also no fee for usage.
