Dixie McFadden, 89 of Ashland, PA passed away Thursday, November 17th, 2016 in Charlottesville, VA.

Born in Ashland, PA March 31,1927, Dixie was the son of the late Cornelius (Neal) and Anna (Schilling) McFadden. 

He was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, Ashland now St. Charles Borromeo and was a United States Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. Dixie worked 43 years for Western Electric, Bell Telephone, and Verizon until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Post and V.F.W. Post of Ashland. 

Dixie graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Ashland and Bliss Electrical School (now Montgomery College) in Silver Spring, MD. 

Preceding him in death was his wife Dorothe (Gough) McFadden in 2010. Two daughters survive: Amy McFadden wife of Thomas Pinckney, Charlottesville, VA and Denise McFadden wife of Scott Cunningham, Barboursville,VA. Grandchildren Thomas Schilling Pinckney, Amy Schyler Cunningham, and Cory Cunningham also survive, along with brothers Harold McFadden and his wife Jean of Dresher, PA, James McFadden of Caldwell, NJ, and sister-in-law Monie McFadden of Notre Dame, IN. 

Sister Anna Corbe, brothers Charles and Raymond McFadden, and nephews Neal and Michael McFadden preceded him in death. Many loving nieces and nephews survive. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland, PA, at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 26th, with Rev. Paul L. Rothermel officiating. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ft. Springs, PA. Viewing Friday evening, Nov. 25th 6:00-8:00 P.M. from the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home and Saturday 9:30-10:30 A.M. from the Funeral Home.

Doris E. Brennan, 72, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday at Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Reading, Dec. 30, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Ethel Strunk and William Reppert.

She was the wife of Charles C. Brennan.

Doris was a graduate of Hamburg High School.

In addition to her husband, Doris is survived by daughters, Colleen Butler, wife of Tim, Pine Grove, and Shannon Stine, Orwigsburg; a son, Michael Brennan, wife of Jessica, Schuylkill Haven; grandsons, Gavin and Logan Butler, Kenny Stine, and Jackson, Declan and Greyden Brennan; brothers, Gerald Reppert, husband of Ann Carol, Shoemakersville, and Jack Reppert, Arizona; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be heldat 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with Certified Celebrant Rebecca Devlin officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday 9:30 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Family requests donations to Alzheimer's Association , South Central PA Chapter, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park.

Shawn P. O'Donnell Sr., 44, of Wilkes-Barre,PA formerly of Ashland , passed away Friday, November 18th, 2016 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born in Ashland January 11,1972 the son of Ruth Ann (Arron) O'Donnell, Frackville and the late Edward O'Donnell. He attended North Schuylkill High Schuylkill High School and was presently working for Whole Life Health. In addition to his mother Ruth Ann surviving are two sons, one daughter: Shawn P. O'Donnell Jr.,Mahanoy Plane,PA; Caitlin O'Donnell, Mahanoy Plane,PA and Dominick Rowan,Wilkes Barre.

Two brothers and a sister survive: Edward husband of Mary Beth O'Donnell, Ashland; Lisa and her fiancee Kenneth Tregembo, Morea,PA and James O'Donnell, Frackville,PA. Nieces and Nephews survive.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland, PA, at 12 Noon on Tuesday, November 22nd, with Rev. Paul L. Rothermel officiating. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Ft. Springs,PA. Visitation Tuesday 10:00-12:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Ashland.

Warren A. "Weed" Christ, a devoted husband, father, and pappy, 95 years of age of Arlington Street, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Orwigsburg Center in Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania.

Survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Dorothy "Dolly" (Angst) Christ; sons, David Christ and his wife Lila of Tamaqua, and Rick Christ and his wife Elizabeth of New Tripoli; grand children, Rick Christ and his wife Ann Marie, Jacob, and Caroline; great grand children, Blaine, and Julia. Many nieces and nephews also survive Weed.

A 1939 Tamaqua Area High School graduate, Weed was an outstanding athlete playing basketball, and baseball which lead to his life long appreciation for all sports. He served honorably in the United States Coast Guard during WWII for thirty-nine months, returning home to work for the former Atlas Powder Company of Reynolds for more than forty-six years retiring as a supervisor. He was a member of Bethany E.C.C. Church of Tamaqua having served as Sunday School Superintendent, and as a member of the consistory. In retirement he assisted his son Rick at O'Brien's Checker Board Vans Moving Company, having managed the Hometown facility.

Weed was a member of the Tamaqua Elks, Keystone Club, and Atlas 25 year Club.

He served civically on the Tamaqua Planning commission, Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army Board of Directors, former Campaign Manager for Schuylkill County United Way, and with the Boy Scouts.

Born Friday, January 17, 1921 in Tamaqua son of the late David, and Mildred (Nahf) Christ. He was also predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones; brothers, David, Larry, Robert, and Charles Christ.

Frances A. Marcin, RN, Tamaqua, PA, passed away at the age of 82 on Saturday evening November 19 at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was comforted by her loving husband, family, and her priest.

She is survived by her husband, John J. Marcin. They would have celebrated their fifty eighth Thanksgiving Wedding Anniversary on November 27.
Born in Coaldale, she was the daughter of the late Stanley P. 
and Anna J. (Kruczek) Krutsick.
Frances graduated from SS. Peter & Paul Parochial School, Lansford, PA and was a 1952 graduate of St. Ann’s Catholic High School of Lansford, PA. Frances pursued a nursing career and graduated from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA in 1955. After graduation, she worked at the Gnaden Huetten Hospital in Lehighton, PA and former Coaldale State Hospital in Coaldale, PA.
A member of St. John XXIII R.C.C. of Tamaqua, Frances also belonged to the PA Nursing Association, Catholic Women’s Educational Association., and St. Agnes Nurses Association.
Frances truly exemplified the life of St. Francis in devoting her entire life to the service of God, her husband, her family, and her community for her entire life.

Her hobbies were reading, gardening, sports, cooking, collecting pennants from all over the world, and spending quality time with family.

Surviving in addition to her husband are five children and six grandchildren. Daughters: Mrs. Judith A. Grainger wife of Paul of Dacula, GA, Dr. Jacqueline A. Marcin of York, PA; Sons: John J. Marcin and his wife Jeanine of Marlborough, CT, Dr. Robert F. Marcin of Lake Hauto, PA, Scott Marcin of Tamaqua, PA; Grandchildren: Lauren, Sarah, Genna, Julia, Johnny, and Joey.
Two Sisters: Mrs. Adelle Caputo, wife of Charles of Philadelphia, PA and Mrs. Ann Louise Ricca, wife of Robert of Groton, CT.

Two Sisters-in-law: Mrs. Mary Garrison and Mrs. Ann Marcin.

Brother-in-law: Lewis Erbe, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patricia Cleary Paduch, 81, of Minersville, passed peacefully at York Terrace Golden Living surrounded by family, friends and the remarkable staff of the nursing home on Saturday, November 19. Patricia was also under the hospice care of Compassus since entering the nursing home on October 8.

She was born in Hegins Township on October 15, 1935 to Joseph Cleary and Edith Hatter Cleary. After Patricia’s mother died and her father went to Canada to join the Army in 1938, Patricia was raised by her grandparents, Raymond and Mabel Wenrich Hatter. When her grandmother died, Patricia lived with her aunt, Dorothy Hatter Ernfield.

Patricia was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School in 1953, and began working at the PUC in Harrisburg as a secretary. She then worked as a secretary in the Minersville Area School District Office. She was the proud advisor to the Minersville Area High School Class of 1993. She also volunteered in various elementary schools in the area.

In 1959, Patricia married Joseph Paduch.

Patricia was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Hatter, who died in 1937; her father, Joseph Clearly, who died in 1984; her son, Joseph Paduch, Jr., who died in 1987; and her husband, Joseph Paduch, Sr., who died in 2006.

Patricia is survived by her half-sister, Margaret Robson and her husband, Harry, Sunderlannd, England; her niece, Jane Kozura Fennelly, who had been her caretaker. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors, especially Marissa and Jason Slifko, whom she thought of as her grandchildren; her faithful dog, Ruby.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 8:00 A.M. at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Kostka #2 Cemetery, Branch Township. Anthony J. “Tony” Rauco, 86, of Shenandoah, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon at Ridgeview Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah Heights.

Born in Raven Run, April 30, 1930, he was a son of the late Angelo and Rose Parasassi Rauco.

He was a graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Tony was a decorated Korean War Air Force veteran.

He retired from the former Aluminum Co. of America (ALCOA), Cressona, and was a member of the Aluminum Workers’ International Union 405.

Tony was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, formerly Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Shenandoah.

He was a 62-year member of the A.P. Damato American Legion “Medal of Honor” Post 792, Shenandoah, and was also a member of the Greater Shenandoah Area Citizens, where he never missed an opportunity to dance at various club parties.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former Irene B. Wascavage; one son, Mark A. Rauco; two sisters, Lucy R. Kolonsky and Angeline “Angie” Burba.

Surviving are two sisters, Theresa Kolonsky, Shenandoah and Lillian Traino, Marlton, N.J.; one brother, Rudolph “Rudy” Rauco and his wife, Rose, of The Villages, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Edna (Barlow) Rauco, Shenandoah; two granddaughters, Kristen Jusinski and her husband, Joseph, Weston Place, Shenandoah and Courtney Lewars and her husband, Cody, Shenandoah; two great-grandsons, Anthony and Joseph Jusinski; his companion, Margaret “Peg” Onisick, Shenandoah and her granddaughters, his extended family, Krysta and Brooke; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Private services and interment with military honors in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights, will be held at the convenience of the family.

Bernard Joseph " Frog" Hill, 81 years of age of old Rte.#209 Newkirk Section of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2016, at home while in the care of his family.

Survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Marion F. (Rhodes) Hill; sons, Bernard "BJ" Hill and his wife Billy-Jo of Johnstown, NJ, Thomas Hill of Jim Thorpe; daughters, Mrs. Patricia A. Dunlap of Summit Hill, Mrs. Tina M. Penkauski wife of Kenneth of Middleport,; brothers, William Hill of Mary-D, Mr. Francis Hill and his wife Vivian of Tamaqua; sisters, Mrs. Margaret Prebula wife of George of Weatherly, Regina Hill of Tamaqua, Rita Miller of Tamaqua, PA; grand children, Joshua, Daniel, Jason, Alex, Jessica, and Michaela; great grand child, Jonathan; daughter-in-law Billi Jo Hill of New York..

Bernard served honorably during the Korean War, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He worked as a plumber, and in retirement for Sky-View Memorial Park of Tamaqua. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting.

Born Friday, January 11, 1935 in Tuscarora, the son of the late William J. Hill, and Margaret (Farrel) Hill. Bernard was also predeceased by his son, James Hill.

Meryl A. Hodon, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother, 63 years of age formerly of Coaldale, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton Campus after an extended illness. Meryl has been a resident of Weatherwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Weatherly for the past fourteen years.

Widow of William J. Hodon who passed away on November 5, 1995, she is survived by; daughter, Sara G. Karnish wife of Frank of Summit Hill; brother, George W. Brimmer III and his wife Lizz of Coaldale; sister, Mrs. Gwyneth A. Collevecho of Lansford; grand Children, Thaddeus and Holden; nieces and nephews, Allison, Brittany, Morgan, and George W. Brimmer IV.

A 1972 Panther Valley High School graduate, Meryl earned her L.P.N. Certification in 1973 from the Carbon County Vo-Tech of Jim Thorpe, then working at Weatherwood and Coaldale State Hospital. A member of the First Congregational Church of Coaldale, Meryl enjoyed sewing, needle point, and won numerous awards for her candy making..

Born Wednesday, September 16, 1953 in Coaldale, the daughter of George W. "Bucky" Brimmer Jr. of Lansford, and the late Mary Alice (Sassaman) Brimmer who passed away on November 30, 2011.
