Gas Prices to Rise in New Year

On January 1st, 2017, Pennsylvanians will see a price increase at the pump.

The price increase isn't due to the market or a shortage of gas, it's due to a law that was passed back in 2013.

The increase is the final step in a gradual tax increase that Pennsylvania has been a part of since 2013.  The law was passed under Governor Tom Corbett.

The law was created to help fund bridge, highway, and other projects.

According to sources, motorist should see an increase of about 8 cents per gallon.

Did you know even before the increase, Pennsylvania already has the nation's highest gas tax.
