Man Wanted on Warrant Runs from Police During Traffic Stop

ASHLAND - According to Ashland Police, On Wednesday (12/21/16), around 1:15am,  Patrolman Philip Schlegel pulled over a vehicle in the 900 block of Brock Street, in the borough due to several code infractions.

As the vehicle stopped Daniel Kramer, 30, exited the vehicle from a rear passenger door and walked onto the front porch of 905 Brock Street.  Officer Schlegel recognized Kramer from a failure to appear warrant that was issued for him for not appearing for a hearing at Magisterial District Judge Hale's for unrelated retail theft charges.

When Schlegel attempted to take Kramer into custody, Kramer resisted and fled on foot on 10th Street.

Schlegel lost sight of Kramer and called for backup from Butler Township Police.

Not long after backup arrived, the officers found Kramer hiding in a backyard in the 900 Block of Walnut Street where he was taken into custody.

Kramer was taken to Schuylkill County Prison on the outstanding warrant and video arraigned on the retail theft charges by on call Magisterial District Judge Plachko.

Kramer's bail was at 10% of $25,000.

Kramer was also found with a small plastic bag that was suspected to contain meth and a syringe that was concealed inside his coat.

After the incident, Kramer is now facing charges of resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and other charges.
