Shotgun Goes Off During Domestic Incident

On Thursday, 12/29/16, around 5:15pm, Pennsylvania State Police Troopers responded to a domestic incident with shots fired at 920 Market Street, Ashland.

Upon arrival, Police found Jason Stahr, 43, of Ashland, unconscious and being treated in the back of an Ashland Ambulance.

He was then taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill East for treatment in reference to an overdose.

State Police at Frackville say Stahr was arguing with his wife about being late with friends the night before.  She had left the residence for several hours and upon returning she found Stahr lying on the floor upstairs with empty pill bottles on the bed and a shotgun leaning against the bed.

When Stahr's wife attempted to wake him, she grabbed the shotgun next to the bed.  Stahr then attempted to gain control of the shotgun and grabbed the gun with both hands.  The gun then fired and struck the wall.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Stahr through on-call Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley.  He was charged with aggravated asasult, simple assault, and reckless endangering another person.  He will be arraigned when he is released from the hospital.
