Agnes E. Reiley, 80, of Pottsville, passed away on Thursday morning in Manor Care, Pottsville.

Born in Port Carbon, on September 27, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Ellen A. (Toole) and James J. McGowan.

Agnes was a 1954 graduate of St. Stephens High School, Port Carbon and Sacred Heart Hospital, School of Nursing, class of 1957. She worked as a head nurse for the Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville and King's Daughters Visiting Nurse Society.

She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.

Agnes was a member of the Pottsville Area School District Board for 5 full terms; the Pottsville Free Public Library Board; and the Pottsville Band Boosters. She was very instrumental in the Pottsville Winter Carnival for over 50 years. Agnes was a great cook and enjoyed playing bridge with her card club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons: Joseph in 1964 and Terence P. "Terry" in 2000.

Agnes is survived by her husband, John D. W. Reiley, to whom she was married 54 years;
son, Hugh M. Reiley, of Pottsville; granddaughters: Caitlin M. and Erin T. Reiley Goodman; brother, Hugh McGowan, of Port Carbon; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 16th at 12:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA, with Father Robert Reiley MM as celebrant.

A visitation with the family will be held on Sunday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville and Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the procession will leave for church.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.

Charles J. Bedway, Jr., 78, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away suddenly Friday, January 13th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Charles was born in Pottsville, PA on Fenruary 1, 1938, a son of the late Wilhelmina (Szilier) Bedway and Charles Bedway , Sr.

He was the husband of Frances A. (Messer) Bedway.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.

Charlie was owner and operator of Bedway Produce Company Schuylkill Haven for 47 years.

A graduate of Pottsville High School

Charlie is survived by three sons Jeffrey, husband of Kristin Bedway, of Orwigsburg; Brian Bedway, of Schuylkill Haven; Randy, husband of Tanya Bedway, of Orwigsburg.

Charlie is survived by 5 grandchildren Katie Bedway, Derek Bedway, Ryan Bedway, Brady Bedway and Lauryn Bedway, 2 great grandchildren Jace and Nico also survived by a sister, Roseanne Ladue, of Orwigsburg and a brother, Paul Bedway, of Schuylkill Haven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, PA, at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 18th, with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik.

A viewing will be held Tuesday 6 - 8 pm. at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc. 25 East Main Street Schuylkill Haven.

Barbara A. McDonald RN, 76, Girardville, passed away peacefully Thursday evening at Shenandoah Senior Living Community surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Sunbury, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Orwig) Hagege. She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church, Girardville, now St. Charles Borromeo Parish.

Barbara became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Philadelphia General in 1960. She worked for many prestigious hospitals before her and her husband Edward opened up Ultimate Home Health and Hospice Care in Girardville, which they owned and operated from 1987 to 2000.
She had a love for nursing and caring for others.

She was preceded in death by her sister Kay Baierlein and brother-in-law William J. McDonald Jr.

Barbara is survived by her husband Edward R. McDonald, Girardville. The two were married at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia on February 4, 1967. She is also survived by three daughters: Kathleen and her husband Alan Gilfert, Girardville, Kellie McDonald, Girardville and Erin McDonald and her fiancé Frank Paul Jr., both of Ashland; her sister Michele Thomas of Maryland and her four grandchildren: Sean, David, William and London.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions be made, in Barbara’s name, to the Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center at 101 E. Washington Street Shenandoah, PA 17976.
