Fred J "Fritz" Bowman, age 90, of Valley View, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at the Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on Sunday, July 18, 1926, in Valley View, a son of the late A P Bowman and the late Bessie V Ney Bowman.

He was a 1944 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II.

Prior to his retirement Fritz was the President of Bowman Brothers Trucking and Bowman Brothers Enterprises, Valley View.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View; where he served as a former vice president of the church council.

Fritz was also a member of F&AM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View, Harrisburg Consistory, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Millersburg Forrest, American Legion Post 575 Valley View, the Valley View Gun Club, past president of the Hegins Valley View Rotary Club, past president of the Hegins Hubley Authority, Board of Directors of the former Pa National Bank, a former member of SEDCO Board of Directors, a member of the Fountain Springs Country Club, former Board of Directors of the PA School Bus Association, a former president of the Uf and Druf Hunting Camp of Sullivan County for many years, and a board member of the former St. Catherines Medical Center, Fountain Springs.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were three brothers, William Bowman, Glenn Bowman, and Dale Bowman; and two sisters, Beatrice Bowman, and Iris Thomas.

He is survived by his wife Bette E Shuey Bowman, to whom he was married for 70 years.

He is also survived by two daughters, Linda B Adams and her husband Forrest of Mechanicsburg and Gail E Pearson and her husband Robert of Mullica Hill, NJ; two sons, James A Bowman and his wife Deborah of Hamburg, and Dan M Bowman and his wife Debra of Valley View; eight grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Brian Beissel officiating.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday at the church.

Burial will be made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.

Frances J. McDonald, “Fran” 79, of Pottsville, passed away on Friday morning in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East Norwegian Street, Pottsville.

Born in Mahanoy City, on September 18, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Emily (Burkey) and Julius Herring.

Frances was a 1955 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and Pottsville School of Nursing, class of 1958. She was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ and enjoyed playing the organ and piano and taught Sunday school in her earlier years. Frances worked as a Registered Nurse at both the Pottsville/Good Samaritan Hospital and later for Dr. Hobbs.

Fran loved to cook and listen to music, specifically Elvis and watching Judge Judy with her grandson Cody. She never missed any sporting events and was always involved and supported everything her family did. She always looked forward to talking with her best friend, Barbara Kuniega. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family.

In addition to her parents Frances was preceded in death by her husband, William J. McDonald, in December 2000 and to whom she was married 41 years and a brother, Robert R. Herring.

Frances is survived by two sons William D. "Butch" McDonald, husband of Maureen, of St. Clair; Robert R. “Bob” McDonald, husband of Roxanne, of Gilbertsville; grandchildren: Cody, Ryan, Maureen Jr., Bill, Zachary, and Brady; sister-in-law, Cheryl Herring; brother-in-law, Edward McDonald, husband of Carole; nieces and nephews: Robert Herring, husband of Barbara; John Herring, husband of Robbie Ann; Michael Herring; Corey Herring; Brian, Kevin, and Sean McDonald.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday 10 a.m. until time of service at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.
