Shenandoah Fire Ruled Accidental; One Injured

A fire on Wednesday morning is being ruled accidental.

Just after 9:00am, Wednesday morning, emergency personnel responded to a fully involved structure fire in the 200 Block of West Centre Street, Shenandoah.

When crews arrived they found flames shooting from the front of the home.  The fire was quickly upgraded to a 2nd alarm, calling in additional units from Frackville and Mahanoy City. 

The fire started at the home of Joseph Ulicny at  228 West Centre Street and spread to the adjacent homes at 226 and 230.  228 was reported to have suffered major damage while 226 and 230  minor smoke and water damage.  Crews has the fire under control in just under an hour.

Ulicny was reported to have suffered burns in the fire and was taken to a local hospital but his injuries were not life threatening.

State Police Fire Marshal Joseph Hall was at the scene to investigate a cause Wednesday afternoon and ruled the fire as accidental stating that the fire's origin was a supplemental propane heating source.
