Police Asking for Help Finding Driver Who Fled Police

Police are asking for the public's help in locating the driver of a vehicle that fled earlier this week.

According to Pottsville Police, on Tuesday 02/02/17 around 2:22am while in the area of the Sharp Mountain Plaza Patrolman Tina Sullivan observed a red SUV, believed to be a Jeep Cherokee, exit the Dunkin Donuts West Drive Thru area at an unsafe high rate of speed and travel North of West Wood Road.

Sullivan attempted conduct a vehicle stop but the operator fled at a high rate of speed while failing to stop at least two separate intersections with stop signs.

The pursuit was terminated in the area of Route 901 and Sunbury Street, Minersville in order to protect public safety in the area.

Pennsylvania State Police  officers in the area observed the vehicle near Sunny Rod Gun Club but lost visual contact in the Duncott area.

Video surveillance from local businesses is being reviewed to help identify the vehicle and operator.
