Rick James Marcinowski, 25, of Shenandoah, PA, passed away Tuesday, February 28th, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Rick was born in Shenandoah, PA on December 30, 1991, a son of Gail Velazquez (Rossbach) and Francisco Velazquez.

He graduated from Shenandoah Valley High School Class of 2010.

Rick is survived by three brothers, Matthew, husband of Melissa, of Pottstown; Kyle, of Ashland Ohio; Timothy, of Tysons Corner VA.; aunt, Dorothy Gurecki (Guida) of Ringtown; uncle, Francis Guida of Shenandoah; uncle, Daniel Marcinowski of Barnesville; cousins Paul Guida and wife, Sharon, and John Gurecki of Ringtown

Memorial Service will be held at the Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, PA, 2pm-4pm on Saturday, March 11th.

David W Kimmel, age 87, of Providence Place, Pine Grove, formerly of Valley View, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center.

He was born on Tuesday, July 23, 1929, a son of the late Charles F Kimmel and the late Anna J Kimmel.

He served in the US Army and the Army Air Corps during the Korean Conflict.

David had worked at Twin Valley Farmers Exchange, Hegins, and retired as a salesperson for J Bertolet VW, Orwigsburg.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View.

He was also a member and former Commander of American Legion Post 575, Valley View.

David loved country western music, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by four brothers and a sister; and by his beloved Chihuahua Lucky.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine M Paul Kimmel, to whom he was married for 68 years.

He is also survived by two daughters, Vicki R Snyder and her husband Ralph of Hegins and Shelley A Wolfgang and her husband Donald of Valley View; a son, Brian D Kimmel and his companion Michael Vargo of Mount Joy; four grandsons, Brock Snyder and his wife Kristen of Millersburg, Dillan Wolfgang of Sterling AK, Colby Snyder of Sacramento, and Kirk Wolfgang and his fiancee Leena Reilly of Centre Hall; two granddaughters, Janna Orshesky and her husband Ronald of Hershey and Amber Fine and her husband Jeffrey of Palmyra; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Wetzel of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Brian Beissel officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday at the church.

Burial will be made in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Valley View.

Barry C. Blank, 65, of 618 W. Nicholas St.,Frackville. passed away peacefully Sunday, March 5th, 2017 at his home with is partner Tom, of 35 years and his sister Brenda by his side.

Born in Ashland October 26,1951 the son of the late Walton and Muriel (Horbach) Blank. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt.Carmel Church, Mt. Carmel,PA. Graduated from North Schuylkill High School and the Philadelphia School of Pharmacy in 1974. He last worked at Tri Valley Pharmacy, Hegins,PA.  He was a member of the Pharmacists Association of PA. 

Surviving are his companion of 35 years Thomas Owens. A sister Brenda Blank, Long Beach,Ca. and a step daughter Christine wife of Daniel Simon. Step grandchildren: Jeramy Simon and Courtney Brocious. Cousins survive.
Services will be held at the Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, PA, at 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 10th,2017. Rev. Frank Karwacki officiating. Wanda V. (Kalis) Wester, age 99, of Hemlock Dr., Tamaqua formerly of Lehighton, died Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Heritage Hill Senior Community, Weatherly.

Wanda Kalis was born on November 7, 2017 in Lansford. She was the fifth of ten children born to Aniela (Witek) and Albert Kalis who emigrated from Poland. She grew up on her parent’s farm in Andreas.

Wanda Married Albin Barnisky who died in 1942. She worked as a waitress at Valesek’s Hotel and Dinos Restaurant in Tamaqua where she met and married Earl Wester in 1947. Together they owned and operated the White Diner in South Tamaqua from 1952 until 1972.

Formerly from Tamaqua, Wanda and Earl also resided in New Ringgold, Ocala, Florida and Lehighton. Upon Earl’s passing in 1999, Wanda returned to Tamaqua.

She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Barnisky, in 2015.

Wanda is survived by children,

Albin Barnisky and his wife Linda of Tamaqua;

Michael Wester and his wife Carol of Tamaqua;

Daniel Wester and his wife Diana of Florida;

Earl Wester and his wife Diane of Vermont;

Julia Wester Kordesich of Glenshaw, PA.

She has 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, also numerous nieces and nephews.

Wanda is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Joann Barnisky of Tamaqua and a sister, Sabina Fata of Florida.

She was predeceased by siblings, Jean DeRosa, Marie Wojtkiewicz, Alma Doyle, Edward Kalis, Julius Kalis, Louis Kalis, Tallulah Sembach and Lester "Buddy" Kalis.

Wanda was Catholic by faith.

Private Arrangements have been entrusted to the E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, PA.

Interment will be at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

Roseann M. Hossler, age 51, of Orwigsburg, PA, passed away on Friday, March 3rd, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown.

Born in Allentown, PA on September 11, 1965, she was the daughter of Joseph G. and Kathryn F. (Ruff) Olexa of Hellertown, PA.

Roseann was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem. She worked for Avenues in Pottsville.

Roseann was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Pottsville, she was a Lady Alternative MC and Roseann was a great Mom and wife, who loved her family.

She was preceded in death by a son Joshua Bachman.

Roseann is survived by her parents, her husband James J. Hossler, Sr., Orwigsburg; a daughter Mariha R. Davis and her husband Kevin, Shoemakersville; 2 sons: Jesse Scherrer, Pottsville and Jonathan Scherrer, Orwigsburg;

4 step-sons: Jim Hossler Jr., Port Carbon, Daniel Hossler, Harrisburg, Jared Hossler, Port Carbon, and Jeremy Hossler, New Minersville; 3 granddaughters: Natalee Davis and Autumn and Allegra Hossler; a grandson Justin Hossler; a sister Antoinette Labarre, Pottsville; 2 brothers: Quinton Noti, Pottsville and Jason Noti, Allentown;

2 step-brothers: Duane and Joseph Olexa, both of Bethlehem; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike Street, Port Carbon at 8PM on Friday, March 10th, with Rev. David Poissant officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday evening from 6:30-8PM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held private.

Linda Laverne Carter, 80, of Mine Street, Brockton, PA died on Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Pottsville, PA. She was the wife of the late John Calhoun Carter, MD who died in 1970. Born in Primrose, Schuylkill County, PA on July 11, 1936, Linda was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (nee Baunchalk) Tolotti. A 1953 graduate of Tamaqua High School and 1956 graduate of Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse who worked at the Pottsville Hospital and then did a multitude of private duty nursing. Linda was also a former nursing supervisor at York Terrace Nursing Home and an Activities Co-Ordinator at Manor Care Nursing Home. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, New Philadelphia. Surviving her are sons, Erik Henry Carter and his wife, Yuko of Fishers, Indiana and John Calhoun Carter, III and his wife, Christina of Middleport, PA; daughter, Karen Zehner of Brockton; grandchildren, John Zehner, John Calhoun Carter, IV and his wife, Felicia, Brittaney Rochelle Carter, Katrina Marie Carter, Maya Carter, and Lina Carter; great grandchild, Colton Carter; sister, Joyce Roman of Gloucester, VA; and several nephews and nieces. A brother, Henry Tolotti preceded her in death. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 10 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA. Interment in St. Bartholomew Cemetery, Brockton will follow the service.
