Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Saturday Morning

(03/17/17)  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Saturday Morning.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 11 AM EDT SATURDAY...

The National Weather Service in State College has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for wintry mix of snow, freezing rain and freezing drizzle which is in effect from 2 AM to 11 AM EDT Saturday.

* TIMING...Later this evening into Saturday morning.

* MAIN IMPACT...Untreated roads and walkways will become icy.

* OTHER IMPACTS...Expect changing road conditions and be sure to use caution, adding extra time to your commute.

An approaching frontal system will bring a period of mixed precipitation overnight into Saturday. Light snow is expected to develop over the Laurel Highlands this evening, and spread across the remainder of the Central Mountains by Saturday morning. Warmer air moving in aloft will cause the snow to mix with or change to light freezing rain or freezing drizzle. Accumulations of snow and ice are expected to remain on the light side, however even a small amount of ice on untreated surfaces will create hazardous travel conditions.
