Man Identified in Fatal Crash Monday Afternoon

Police are investigating a 2 vehicle fatal crash that occurred Monday afternoon.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 1:30pm on the Burma Road approximately 1 mile from the Brockton Mountain Drive intersection.

Police say a vehicle driven by Mary Clickner, 54, of Mahanoy City, along with a passenger were traveling south on the Burma Road.  Another vehicle driven by Paul Winans, 54, was traveling behind Clickner.

Both vehicles entered a passing zone in which vehicle were able to pass on the left.  Winans merged from behind Clickner into the northbound lane and began to pass Clickner on the left.  While passing Winans vehicle side swiped Clickner's

Winans vehicle continued off the east side of the roadway and impacted a tree.  Clickners vehicle was able to safely stop on the right should after it struck Winans.

Both Clickner and her passenger were not injured in the crash.

Paul Winans was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Dave Truskowsky.

Members of the Ryan Township Ambulance, Mahanoy City Ambulance, Citizen's Fire, and West End Fire assisted at the scene.

Hometown and Saint Clair Police assisted with traffic control while the Burma Road was closed for several hours.

The State Police Troop L Accident Reconstruction and Record and Identification members were called to assist in the crash investigation.
