Robert J. Kocher. SGT RET, age 78, of Palo Alto Pottsville, PA passed away Friday, April 28th, 2017 at Schuylkill Center in Pottsville.

Born in Philadelpia, April 25, 1939, son of Charles Kocher and Mary Mills. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Clair High School. He had an associate degree from Columbia College, Missouri.

Robert enlisted in the United States Army and Air Force. He retired from military service with 22 years of service.

He served his country proudly and with honor and received an honorable discharge in November of 1985.

In May of 1986, he started work with the US Postal Service and after 21 ½ years retired in November of 2007. Robert was a good husband, father, and grandfather.

Robert was married to Sa Hong Kocher for 44 years. They raised two children, a daughter Elizabeth Bentz of Reading, and a son Brian Kocher, Hatfield PA

He is also survived by two grandchildren Faith and Brynna Bentz, Reading PA and a step son David McKenzie and his wife Belinda in Alabama.

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon at 9:45AM on Wednesday May 3rd, with Msgr William Glosser officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:45AM at the funeral home.

Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

Mary Jo Rudiman RN, 70, Girardville, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Broad Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Frackville.

Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Martin Schwalm. She worked as a registered nurse at the former Ashland State Hospital and then Geisinger Medical Center before her retirement.

She was a 1964 graduate of Pine Grove High School and a 1969 graduate of the Ashland School of Nursing. She loved to cook and enjoyed crafting.

She was of Lutheran Faith.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband Peter Rudiman, her son Eric Rudiman and her grandson Zachary, all of Girardville; her sister Sally and her husband Wes Levan of Pine Grove and her brother Richard and his wife Donna Schwalm of Lebanon; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of her family.

Dorothy M Weinreich, age 91, of Hegins, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

She was born on Thursday, May 21, 1925, in Barry Twp, a daughter of the late Charles H Sweinhart and the late Beulah I Moser Sweinhart.

She worked at Twin Valley Farmer's Exchange, Hegins, until her retirement.

She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins.

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, and playing Chinese checkers.

Her husband Eric Weinreich, passed away in 2005. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Earl Sweinhart.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra L Herb and her husband Gary of Hegins; a grandson, Darren L Herb and his wife Tanya of Valley View; a granddaughter, Erica L Smeltz and her husband Andrew of Summerdale; five great grandsons, Brandon Herb, Conner Herb, Austin Herb, and Kaiden Herb all of Valley View, and Andrew Smeltz of Summerdale; a great granddaughter, Samantha Smeltz of Summerdale; a brother, Ivan Sweinhart of Hegins; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with Rev. Warren Egebo officiating.

Burial will be made in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.

Dolores "Dori" Rhoades, 87, of Ashland,PA passed away Sunday, April 30th, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Norwegian St., Pottsville, PA.

Born in Ashland,PA December 7,1929 the daughter of the late Burd and Mary (Smith) Wentzel. She graduated from Ashland High School; was a member of Zion's Reformed United Church of Christ, Ashland and worked for Ashland Knitting Mills until retirement. Her husband Harold preceded her in death in 1993. She was preceded in death by a brother Burd Wentzel and four sisters: Betty Ossman, Grace Leib, Mildred Fisher and Thelma Maurer.

Nephews surviving:  Mark Loeper, Ashland; Kenneth Loeper, Florida and a niece Linda Ossman, Ashland

Graveside Services will be held at Christ Church Cemetery, Ft. Springs, PA Friday, May 5,2017 at 1:00 P.M. Rev. David Grant will officiate. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland is in charge.
