Man Facing Harassment Charges

On Thursday, 05/11/17, the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville responded to the 100 Block of Market Street, in Cumbola, Blythe Township for a report of a domestic situation involving Richard Viars, 45, and his girlfriend.

Police say the victim reported that a verbal argument escalated to which the defendant, Viars, pushed, punched, and kicked her.

Viars was removed from the residence and will be summoned on harassment charges.

Woman Wanted by Pottsville Police Arrested in Ashland

On Thursday, 05/11/17, around 4:15pm, Ashland Police were called to 938 Center Street, Ashland for a call for assistance.

Police say, the caller, Nicholas Popp, stated that his wife Crystal Popp was acting out and was abusing her prescription medications.  Nicholas Popp also stated that she may be wanted for an incident that occurred in Pottsville recently.

Nicholas Popp also stated that Crystal was known to act out with police by kicking, punching, and biting and was also known to carry knives.

Through investigation, Police learned that Crystal Popp was wanted by the Pottsville Police Department.

Crystal Popp was taken into custody without incident and transferred to the Pottsville Police.

Butler Township also assisted at the scene.
