Three Injured in Fiery Five Vehicle Crash on Interstate 78 Late Friday

Two were injured in a fiery five vehicle crash late Friday.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg, around 5:30pm, Friday, traffic was travelling eastbound on Interstate 78 near Milemarker 38.1 when traffic began to slow down.

As traffic began to slow suddenly, a tractor trailer and collided with a Mercedes and a 2001 Mack Truck, causing them to push into other vehicles.  During impact, a portion of the tractor trailer burst into flames lighting the vehicle it was impacting to catch fire as well.

The driver of the tractor trailer was transported to the hospital for burn injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes and a passenger also suffered minor injured.

Interstate 78 eastbound was closed while the crash was cleared and investigation.

The Pennsylvania State Police at Hamburg is still investigating.
