Man Injured in Crash After Motorcycle Slides on Freshly Tarred and Chipped Road

A man was severely injured Saturday after the motorcycle he was driving slid on freshly tarred and chipped road.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on Route 443, East Railroad Avenue, in New Ringgold around 3:45pm

Police say the crash occurred as Matthew Garverick, 30, of Bethel, PA  was traveling westbound on SR443 on his Honda Shadow, and failed to negotiate a right curve in the roadway. Garverick slid on the freshly tarred and chipped roadway while traveling around the curve. He lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to leave the roadway and was thrown from the motorcycle and struck the guard rail on the northern berm.

Garverick sustained serious injuries to his left arm and left leg and  was airlifted by Life Flight 5 to Reading Hospital for evaluation.

Assisted at the scene by New Ringgold Fire Dept, West Penn Twp. Fire Dept and Schuylkill EMS.
