Joseph E. Shamonsky, 72, of Hometown, PA died on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in Allentown, PA. He was the husband of Shirley (nee Frye) Shamonsky to whom he would have been married 50 years in December. Born in Mary-D, PA on August 7, 1944, Joseph was a son of the late Frank A. and Mary (nee Devigili) Shamonsky. A 1964 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he served as a medical corpsman in the Army during the Vietnam War. Joseph retired from Lucent, Reading, PA in 2000 and formerly had worked for the former Atlas Powder Company, Reynolds, PA and the former Bethlehem Steel Company, Bethlehem, PA. He was a life member of the Hometown Fire Company; a life member of West Penn Rod and Gun Club; a life member of the Vietnam Veterans’ Organization of Carbon County, Post 123; a member of the Lansford American Legion; a charter member and vice president of the former Lansford American Legion Riders; a former member of the South Ward Fire Company and a former member of the Hometown Fire Police. Joseph was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Joseph E. Shamonsky, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Hometown; daughter, Heather A. Shamonsky and her fiancĂ© Stephen Hoffman of West Penn Township, PA; grandchildren, Devin, Samantha, and Tyler; brother, Charles Shamonsky of Hometown; and his dog, Karson. Predeceasing him were his parents; a brother Frank in April; a sister Arlene Sakusky; and his beloved dog Toby. Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 17 at the Zizelmann-Gulla Funeral Home, 500 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, PA with The Rev. Stephen Halabura officiating. Interment with military honors in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown will follow services. Call 9-11 AM on Monday at the funeral home. Robert M. Paul Sr., 47, Centre St., Ringtown, passed away Wednesday, July 12th, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born in Quakertown, February 22, 1970, he is the son of Bella Paul, Ringtown, and the late Robert Diehl. He attended the North Schuylkill High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Bob’s passion was baking. He was employed as a baker for the former New York Bakery, Frackville, and the Dunkin Donuts of Pottsville. Recently he was employed as a window maker for Jeld Wen Company, Ringtown.

Bob belonged to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Ringtown.

Dorothy Lattanzi, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, 92 years of age of Archery Club Road, New Ringgold, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Medical Ctr. in Coaldale, Pennsylvania.

Widow of Anthony J. Lattanzi who passed away on July 18, 1996 she is survived by; daughter, Mrs. Susan P. Doucette with whom she resided; brother, Andrew Ziray and his wife Pat of Dunnellon, FL; grand children, Dr. Peter Doucette and his wife Susan NA, David Doucette and his wife Angela; great grandchildren, Sabine, and Emily.

A graduate of James Caldwell High School in Caldwell, New Jersey Dorothy matriculated to Christ Hospital in Jersey City earning her Registered Nursing Certification.

Dorothy was a member of Zion Stone Church of West Penn Township. She liked to garden and knit.

Born Wednesday, October 29, 1924 in Caldwell, New Jersey. the daughter of the late George, and Lydia (Horvath) Ziray. She was also predeceased by brothers, George, and Desmond Ziray.

Merle L Cresswell, 85, of Orwigsburg, PA, passed away Monday, July 10th, at Lehigh Valley East Norwegian, Pottsville.

Merle was born in Hopewell, VA on July 14, 1931, a daughter of the late Hattie (Sober) and Lewis Hurlburt.

She was a member of Faith Church, Orwigsburg.

She worked for many years for Baltimore Life Insurance Company. Merle also worked for Boyers IGA, Princess House, and the Office of Senior Services, Pottsville.

She was known for being a Gospel singer with her husband Walter. She was an exceptional Pianist and Organist, as well as a beautiful singer.

Merle graduated from Hopewell High School, Class of 1949, and was in the National Honor Society. She also graduated from United Wesleyan College, where she met her beloved husband.

She was wife of the late Walter Cresswell, who was the Mayor of Orwigsburg prior to his death.

Merle is survived by two sons: Darle, husband of Cheryl Cresswell, of Orwigsburg; and Doug, husband of Robin Cresswell, of Schuylkill Haven, and a daughter, Dawn, wife of Jeff Hull, of Orwigsburg. She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, Tiffany, wife of Earl Yeager, Jillian, Darle, husband of Carrie Cresswell, Allison, wife of Josh Ball, Jeffrey, Douglas, and Adam, and Nick, her honorary Grandchild, as well as 4 Great Grandchildren, Broden, Hanson, Rowena, and Cameron.

She is preceded in death by a brother Alfred Hurlburt, and a sister Elsie Howell.

A Celebration of Life Through Song will be held at Faith Church, Orwigsburg, at 6 PM on Monday, July 17th, with Pastor Doug Cresswell officiating.

Friends and Family may call for a visitation on Monday at 5 PM at Faith Church, Orwigsburg.

Interment will be private at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven, PA.

Patricia A. Hosler, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, 77 years of age passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at her home on Race Street in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Widow of Leon D. "Lep" Hosler who passed away on July 15, 2005, she is survived by; daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth M. Baddick of Tamaqua, Mrs. Lynne M. Wertman wife of Dave of Tamaqua, Mrs. Patricia A. Correll of Kaska , Mrs. Allison L. Ebert wife of David of Pottsville and Mrs. Connie Shilko wife of Scott of Tamaqua, 11 grand children; 10 great grandchildren.

Catholic by faith, Pat owned and operated Mooney's Café in Tuscarora with her late husband from 1978 to 2002. She was a lifetime member of the Tuscarora Fire Company.

Born Thursday, April 4, 1940 in Pottsville the daughter of the late Cornelius, and Elizabeth (Flynn) Mooney.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning July 18, 2017 at 11 o'clock A.M. from the funeral home. Friends shall be received on Monday evening July 17, 2017 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on the morning of services' from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.

Marlene D. Schneck (Daniels), a long-time resident of Orwigsburg passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, Wednesday the 12th of July at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

She leaves behind her beloved husband Kenneth L. Schneck; her daughter Jamie L. Schneck of Orwigsburg; a daughter Jennifer E. Ryan (Schneck) and her husband Michael of Bethlehem, PA; and a son Jeffrey C. Schneck of Denver, PA. She also leaves a brother David (Bucky) Daniels and his wife Donna of Orwigsburg, PA and a sister Anne Daniels and her companion Charles Kerstner of Orwigsburg, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Mckenna, Marlana, Jacob and Teagan who she loved very much.

Marlene enjoyed being with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an active member and choir participant of St. Johns UCC. She loved to debate politics and was a life-long member of the Republican Party. She loved music and was in the band Whiskey River for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling and socializing with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her yearly Christmas and Memorial Day parties and having the gift of bringing people together to enjoy life.

The Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home of Orwigsburg, has been entrusted with arrangements. The memorial service will be held this Saturday the 15th of July at 4:00PM, at St. John’s UCC in Orwigsburg. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate her life.
