Thousands Expected to Attend the 7th Annual Good Intent Hose Company ATV Run

The first weekend in August has been the busiest for the past six years in Branch Township, Schuylkill County.

The Good Intent Hose Company #1 of Llewellyn, PA kicks off its seventh annual ATV Run weekend beginning Thursday, August 3rd at 5pm with Cheesesteak Night. Come try a locally famous Llewellyn Cheesesteak while listening to the sounds of “Close Enough,” and acoustic guitar/vocal duo from 8 to 11.

Friday evening a spaghetti dinner will be served from 5-8pm, and is open to the public. Local band “Almost Famous” is set to perform inside the bar Friday night from 9-12 with no cover charge.

Breakfast will be served from 6-10am on Saturday August 5th.

The participants ride dirt bikes, ATVs and UTVs through varying terrain on a marked course. Local powersports dealers and various vendors related to the event will be exhibiting their wares on the firehouse grounds, which is also the start and end of the course. Homemade “block party food” will be available throughout the event.

Following the riding portion, winners are announced and “Adrenalyn” takes the stage from 7pm through the end of the evening.

The event was created in 2011 as an alternative fund raiser for the Good Intent Hose Company. As the costs of firefighting equipment, insurance, and fuel skyrocket a few members decided to think outside the box. Instead of the standard dinners, bingos, and other fundraisers they decided to try something different.

As the fire company is located on the edge of the wilderness, it was almost a no-brainer.

The first event was held in the summer of 2011 and drew 477 participants, and grew rapidly from there.

In 2016 the number of registered riders was 2,298.
