Man in Custody After Attempted Child Luring

(08/13/17) A man is in custody after an attempted child luring in Girardville Saturday evening.

According to Girardville Police, on Saturday August 12, 2017, around 8:20pm, a man attempted to lure an 8 year old boy into his vehicle near William and Oak Streets in the borough.

The man, later identified as Richard Scott Carver, 46. of Colonial Beach, VA was located at 9 West Ogden Street and positively identified by the victim.

Carver was taken into custody where it was learned he had an active arrest warrant out of Prince William County, VA for obscene material.

While at the Girardville Police Station, police say Carver also exposed himself in the Girardville Police Station to the arresting officer, Officer Jody Long.

Carver was charged with felony luring a child into a motor vehicle, felony attempted interfering with the custody of a child, and misdemeanor indecent exposure.

Carver was arraigned by the on-call Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $20,000.00 cash bail.
