A man was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 81 Thursday morning in Schuylkill County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, around 5:40am on Thursday, a crash occurred on Interstate 81 in the Southbound lanes near milemarker 110.

Police say a vehicle driven by Peter Kulik III, 33, of Kulpmont crashed into the rear of a tractor trailer driven by David Tucker, 34, of Edwardsville.

Kulik's vehicle wedged underneath the tractor trailer as it traveled and eventually stopped on the side of the road.

Kulik's vehicle was reported to be severely damaged but he was able to climb out of the crushed vehicle.

Tucker was uninjured in the crash but Kulik was taken to the hospital via Tremont Ambulance for serious injuries.  He was not reported to have been wearing a seat belt.

The tractor trailer was not severely damaged but was towed from the scene.
