Helen Quinn, 93, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Tuesday, August 15th, peacefully, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Helen was born in Mahanoy City, PA on March 10, 1924, a daughter of the late Mae (Thorton) and John McCarthy.

She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City.

Helen worked at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. during WWII. She was also a Phone Operator at Lit Brothers Philadelphia. Helen loved to cook everyday for her family.

Graduated from Mahanoy City High School Class of 1943.

She was wife of the late John Quinn.

Helen is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Quinn, her companion, Dave Loftus, a step granddaughter, Jacqueline Loftus, two sisters, Jean Morris, of Philadelphia and Patricia McLafferty of East Norriton, PA, a sister-in-law, Joann McCarthy, Mahanoy City, and by 7 Grandchildren,18 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Quinn, daughter, Peggy Quinn, brothers John and James McCarthy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Thursday August 24th with Rev. William Linchorst officiating.

Friends may call Thursday 10 AM at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Interment will be in St. Canicus Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.

Alma S. Fisher, 81, of Tamaqua, PA died on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at home. She was the wife of Robert B. Fisher to whom she was married 58 years. Born in Hazleton, PA on January 10, 1936, Alma was a daughter of the late Warren S. and Isabelle (nee Bittle) Schaeffer. A 1953 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she also graduated from Kutztown State Teachers College in 1957. Retiring in 1993, Alma had been an elementary school teacher for 35 years; teaching over that time in Devon, PA, Valley Forge, PA, Seaside, CA, and Tamaqua. She was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tamaqua where she was active in church activities. Alma is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Bruce L. Fisher of Tamaqua; and granddaughter, Jennifer L. Fisher. She was also predeceased by a brother, Herbert Schaeffer and a sister, Kathleen S. Hill. Services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, August 18 in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 North Greenwood Street, Tamaqua with The Rev. Cindy White officiating. Interment in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown, PA will follow services. Call 9-11 AM Friday in the church. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers a contribution be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 North Greenwood Street, Tamaqua, PA 18252 or an act of compassion be done to help someone in need. Anna "Anne" Yoder, 89, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday, August 17th, at Providence Place Retirement Community, Pottsville, where she had resided since 2014.

Born in Saint Clair on July 26, 1928, she was a daughter of the late George and Suzanna (Hreso) Ondo.

She was the widow of Thomas E. Yoder, who passed away in 2003.

Anne was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star - Chapter #424, and the Schuylkill Haven Women's Club.

Anne graduated from St. Clair High School as Salutatorian, and in later years attended Penn State University.

She was previously employed by Bell Telephone in office sales, by the Borough of Schuylkill Haven, and then managed Mark E. Yoder, Inc., with her husband until retirement.

In addition to her parents and husband, Anne is also preceded in death by her brother, George Ondo.

She is survived by sons Mark G. Yoder and wife, Zelda Rae, Reading, and Eric T. Yoder and wife, Patti B., Arlington, VA, and grandchildren: Keith T. of San Francisco, Suzanne E. of Brooklyn, NY, Natalie J., and Valerie A., both of Arlington, VA.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be conducted at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 21st, with Rev. David Rowe officiating.

A viewing will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will immediately follow the service on Monday at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
