Fire Crews Make Quick Work of Fire; Police Save Man and Child

Firefighters made quick work of a fire in Mahanoy City early Tuesday.


Just before 12:30am, fire crews were called to 925 West Centre Street, Mahanoy City for a working structure fire.

Police arrived on seen and were able to kick in the door of the home to rescue a man and an infant sleeping inside.

The two officers responsible for getting the man and child to safety were Thomas Rentschler and Jen Dempsey.

After fire crews arrived they found flames in the front porch area of the home and crews were able to quickly put the fire out before spreading further.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
