Mahanoy Area Students Safe After Brief Lockdown Wednesday Morning

Mahanoy Area officials have reported to parents that students are safe after a brief lockdown Wednesday morning.

According to a call and text from the school district "For your information…..there was a situation that occurred today at the school that required a brief lockdown. Administration investigated, in conjunction with our Student Resource Officer and the Mahanoy City Police Department. The investigation is complete. The lockdown has ended. We have confirmed that students and staff are safe.

The fire alarm was unexpectedly pulled by an elementary student later this afternoon. We are all safe and ...back in the building. "

During the phone call, it was stated that the Mahanoy City Police conducted the investigation.
