Mahanoy City Fire Station to Rise from the Ashes on Saturday

A Mahanoy City fire station will return after it's previous one burned down 4 years ago.

On the morning of the 2013 Schuylkill County Firemen's Convention, the Washington Hook and Ladder, Mahanoy City was supposed to be getting ready for the parade.  But the Hookies spent that morning trying to put out a fire in their own fire station.

The fire destroyed their firehouse, located on Mahanoy Street, as well as their ladder truck, a 1993 Simon Duplex 75' Quint.

But on Saturday, October 14th, they will rise from the ashes.

After over 4 years of work, the Washington Hook and Ladder will officially dedicate their new firehouse next to the West End Firehouse and also house their new firetruck, a 1997 E-One 75' Quint, which came from the Southampton Fire Company, Bucks County.

The celebration will begin with an apparatus parade starting at 1:00pm, Saturday.  Fire trucks will also be judged on numerous Award categories.

After the parade, a ceremony will take place to dedicate their new building and house the new Ladder 457.
