Man Charged with Attempted Homicide for Shooting near Ringtown

A man was charged overnight with attempted homicide for a shooting near Ringtown.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, just before 8:00pm, the Police were called the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club, located at 395 Ferndale Road, Union Township, near Ringtown, to investigate a shooting.

Police say Steven Brobst, 62, of Sugarloaf entered the club and shot a 51 year old female seated at the bar.

Other patrons at the bar wrestled Brobst to the ground and took the gun away from him.

The victim was transported to a landing zone by Shenandoah EMS where Life Flight 5 transported her to Geisinger.  Ringtown Valley Fire Company assisted at the landing zone.  There are no details on the condition of the victim.

Brobst was charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, simple assault recklessly endangering another person.

Brobst was video arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $500,0000 bail.
