Man Charged with Homicide After Shooting Victim Dies

A man was charged overnight with homicide for a shooting near Ringtown on Tuesday evening.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, just before 8:00pm, Tuesday, Police were called the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club, located at 395 Ferndale Road, Union Township, near Ringtown, to investigate a shooting.

Police say Steven Brobst, 62, of Sugarloaf entered the club and shot his wife, Diane Brobst, 51, who was seated at the bar.

Other patrons at the bar wrestled Steven Brobst to the ground and took the gun away from him.

The victim was transported to a landing zone by Shenandoah EMS where Life Flight 5 transported her to Geisinger.

Brobst was originally charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, simple assault recklessly endangering another person.

But on Wednesday, 11/22/17, Diane Brobst passed away from her injuries.

Steven Brobst has now been charged with criminal homicide, murder of the first degree, murder of the third degree, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person.

Brobst was video arraigned at the Schuylkill County Prison by on-call Magisterial District Judge James Ferrier on 11/23/17.  Bail was denied.   Brobst continues to be locked up at Schuylkill County Prison.
