There could be no greater symbol for the life of Robert E. Monger than for God to call him home on Veteran’s Day. Bob, a proud Navy veteran, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 11th with his wife and daughter by his side.

Robert was born on August 20th 1937 on his grandparents’, Harvey & Norah’s, farm in Oak Grove, Pine Grove Township. He was the first of four children born to Leonard Lee Monger and Vivian Morgan Monger, both deceased. Bob enlisted in the Navy after graduating from Tower City High School in 1955. He served his country for over 20 years aboard The Franklin Roosevelt, The Constellation, The Intrepid, The Kittyhawk, and The Forrestal. He was aboard The Forrestal during the explosion in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam. Bob was an avid reader who loved kayaking, fishing, hunting and spent his life in service to others. He was a former Tremont Borough police office, a former member of the Tremont Ambulance Association, a former member of the Tremont Fire Company, and a former Pennsylvania State Constable. He was a member of Saint Peter’s UCC, Tremont, the Tremont Area Food Pantry, and the Tremont Senior Citizens. Bob was employed by Dayton Superiors, Tremont for over 24 years and currently employed by Kelly Services, Lickdale.

Bob was the loving husband of Florence “Tink” Robinson Monger, Tremont and devoted father to their daughter, Sarah Monger, Cleveland OH. Bob was also a loving father to his two children from his first marriage, a son Robert “Bobby” Monger and his companion Kim, of Hamburg, and a daughter, Norma Ludwig and her husband Rich, Tower City. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren Anthony James Alvez, Robert John Monger, and Richard Ludwig & his wife Amanda; nieces Jenny Kramer, Ashley McOwen, & Laura Fitzpatrick; and nephews Albert “Butch”Potts, Gary Warner, Bobby Warner, Jimmy Monger, Dominic Robinson, and Mack Fitzpatrick. He was preceded in death by siblings, Shirley Warner, Leonard Monger, and James Monger and brother-in-law James Robinson.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 19th at 7 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City with Rev. Maureen Duffy-Guy. Visitation will be from 6-7 pm at the chapel.
