Louis Anthony Mione, 87, of Tower City, passed away Friday evening at the Hershey Medical Center with his family by his side.

Born in Tower City, February 17, 1930, a son of the late Frances and Virginia D'Andrea Mione.

Lou was a 1948 graduate of the former Tower City High School, where he served as class president. He was a United States Navy Veteran and was a member of the famed Navy Blue Jackets Choir while stationed at Great Lakes Navel Training Center.

He was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Executive Department of Revenue.

He and his wife were the owners of the former Mione's Department Store and Mione's Formal Wear, Tower City for over 43 years.

He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Chapel, Tower City where he served as a soloist for many years. He was a former member and President of the Williams Valley Board of Education; a founding member of Community/Industrial Development Organization in Tower City; served as president and vice president of the Tower City Historical Association. In 1968 he served as Co-Chairman for the Tower City Centennial Celebration; was a member of the Hershey Italian Lodge; Keystone Carnival Glass Club and the U.S.S. Kearsage Association. He was a longtime member of the NRA.

Lou's life revolved around his entire family. He was very proud of his Italian heritage and was in charge of the Mione Family Reunion.

In addition to his parents, he was predecased by a great grandson, Scott Null III; three sisters, Dora, Clara and Verna; 6 brothers, Rudy, Richard, Edward, Frank, Julius and Henry.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce Barry Mione; his four children, Louis M. Mione, (Kim) Hershey, Andrew F. Mione (Lori), Tower City, Elaine M. Null (Scott), Tower City and Victoria L. Koppenhaver (Tim), Orwin. 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great Granchildren. Nieces and Nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Wednesday, November 22nd at 11:00 am from the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Chapel, Tower City. Burial with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Home, Inc., Tower City.
