Governor Wolf Announces Investment to Improve Recreation, Community Revitalization in Nine Schuylkill County Communities

Governor Tom Wolf announced on Tuesday an investment of $44 million for 266 projects across Pennsylvania that will create new recreational opportunities, conserve natural resources, and help revitalize local communities.  Nine of those are for Schuylkill County communities.

Those nine projects include:
  • Delano Township, $40,000 for rehabilitation of Delano Township Park, Delano Township. Work to include renovation of basketball court; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Frackville Borough, $742,000 for rehabilitation of Frackville Community Pool, Frackville Borough. Work to include reconstruction of the main pool including zero- depth entry, pool decking, and bathhouse/concession stand building; installation of filtration and recirculation systems and utilities, water features, pool heater and pavers; ADA access, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Frailey Township, $40,000 for further development of Donaldson Playground, Frailey Township. Work to include construction of pavilion; installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Mahanoy City Borough, $40,000 for rehabilitation of East End Playground, Mahanoy City Borough, Schuylkill County. Work to include renovation of basketball court; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Mahanoy Township, $40,000 for rehabilitation of Morea Park, Mahanoy Township.  Work to include installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Saint Clair Borough, $30,000 for rehabilitation of Third Street Playground, Saint Clair Borough. Work to include installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Shenandoah Borough, $80,000 for rehabilitation of Girard Park, Shenandoah Borough.  Work to include renovation of basketball court; construction of parking area; ADA access, landscaping, project sign and other related site improvements.
  • Tamaqua Borough, $18,000, Prepare a Pool Feasibility Study for the H.D. Buehler Memorial Pool in Tamaqua Borough.
  • Wayne Township, $20,000, Prepare a Master Site Development Plan for the approximately 17 acre Wayne Township Park in Wayne Township.
