Interior of the Schuylkill Mall Closed Off

With demolition imminent, signs of work have begun at the Schuylkill Mall.

This week, temporary fencing and a new wall were built blocking vehicle and foot traffic in and around the mall.

Earlier this week, temporary fencing was built near the old Kmart side of blocking vehicle traffic from south side of the mall property.  Traffic is still open to access Big Lots.  Work is also progressing near Big Lots where Davita, a Dialysis facility, is expected to move to.

Inside, a new wall was built near the former DE Jones /Brackney Leather blocking all foot traffic from accessing the rest of the mall to those who enter through the movie theater entrance.

The final 2 large tenants of the mall announced closing dates, Dunham's Sports will close December 31st and the Pearl Theater's final day of operation will be January 15th, 2018.

Demolition of the mall is expected to begin in the new year.
