Police Investigating Two Theft Incidents in Upper Berks County

State Police at Hamburg are investigating two theft incidents in Upper Berks County that are believed to be related.

Sometime between December 4, 2017 1:15pm to December 5, 2017 at 6:30am, the suspect(s) removed six batteries from wood chippers which were parked on the property of 25 N. 5th St.,
Upper Bern Twp., Berks County.

The loss of these batteries is valued at approximately $1150.

In addition, the suspect(s) used a pry bar to open a side access panel to the Victim’s truck.

The damage to the truck is valued at approximately $1000.

The suspect(s) then removed one Stihl 461 chainsaw valued at approximately $1000, a Stihl trim saw 201T valued at approximately $600 and a Stihl BG55 blower which was valued at approximately $200.

Prior to the theft, a vehicle was observed driving past the Upper Bern Twp. Building. The vehicle appeared to be a 2-door coupe (Likely a Hyundai Veloster).

It was observed passing the municipal building and parking to the rear of where the Victim’s vehicles were located. A male was also observed walking with these items past the Upper Bern Twp. Municipal Building.

Sometime between December 4, 2017 1:15pm to December 5, 2017 at 6:30am, Five “cherry Picker” trucks were broken into at Nelson's Tree Service located on Bright School Rd ½ mile north of SR 183
in Penn Township.  Only the metal cabinets behind the driver door were pried open.  Still getting inventory but they think 12 Stihl chainsaws, 5 leaf blowers, 4 2.5 gal gas cans taken.  Total loss approx. $5,000.00.
