Richard F. Hoffecker, 42 of Pottsville, died Tuesday morning at Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

He was born June 16, 1975 in Pottsville son of the late Frank Hoffecker, Sr., and Linda Myers.

Richard was a 1993 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Surviving are his sister, Laurie Bailey, Columbus OH; Nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.

Ross R. "Shorty" Reber, 94, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Tuesday, December 12th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.

Born in Cressona, on October 27, 1923, he was a son of the late William & Neda (Berger) Reber.

He was the widower of Emily Mae (Zimmerman) Reber, who passed away March 30, 2017. The couple shared nearly 70 years of marriage.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Schuylkill Hose Co. and Robert E. Baker Post #38 American Legion, all of Schuylkill Haven.

He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was employed by the former Walk-In Shoe Factory and the Schuylkill Haven Fire Police.

In addition to his wife, he is also preceded in death by siblings Lawrence, Miles, William, Marguerite, Arthur and Austin.

Shorty is survived by two daughters: Doris M. Kreiser & husband, Eugene, Auburn, and Joanne E. Stager & husband, Ronald, Milroy, PA, four granddaughters: Valerie Kreiser & companion, Jeffrey Koch, Brenda Kreiser & companion, Vincent Heckman, Kathleen Stager Swartz, & Michelle Weader & companion, Kip McElwain, Jr., as well as great-grandchildren: Jarid Kreiser & wife, Amber, Derek & Courtney Kramer, Nicholas Koch, Lannie McCullough & husband, Anthony, Miranda Shoop, and Zackary Weader and a great-great-granddaughter, Skylar McCullough.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 19th, with Rev. Janet Lewis officiating.

A viewing for family and friends will be held Monday 5 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday morning.

Interment will immediately follow the service at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Wilda Parrish, 78, of 650 Washington Street, Frackville, died Sunday December 10, 2017 at her Residence.
Born in West Mahanoy Twp, November 9, 1939, She was a daughter of the late George and Ethel (Davis) Leiby.

She worked with her husband at Bob's Towing in Frackville.

Wilda was an avid Penn State Fan . She also enjoyed watching her granddaughter play sports and puzzle books with her 2 buddies, Avana and Sonya.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Parrish April 24, 2014.

Surviving are daughter Brenda Schuetrum of Frackville, son Robert Parrish and his wife Harriet of Frackville, granddaughter Brandi Schuetrum of Frackville, 2 step – Great grand children Taniesha Harvey of Mt. Carmel; Brayden Harvey of Mt Carmel; one step great great grandchild Nevaeh Thomas, brother George Leiby of Frackville, her best buddy Stifler.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday from Nice- Hart Funeral Home, Inc, 9 North Lehigh Avenue Frackville. The Rev. Mike Tambussi will be officiating. . Friends may call from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM Thursday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parrish Family to help defry cost of the funeral. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, West Mahanoy Twp..

Metro Tarris , 93, Port Carbon, passed away Sunday December 10, 2017 at Manor Care Health Services, Pottsville.

Born in Schoentown, November 9, 1924, He was a son of the late Wassil and Catherine (Nosa) Tarris.

A graduate of St. Clair High School, Metro served in the US Army in WWII where he took part in The Battle of The Bulge.

He retired as a Pipefitter from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 524.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, St. Clair, Schoentown Fire Co; VFW, and the Middleport American Legion.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5 brothers, John, Michael, Nicholas, Peter and Paul, 3 sisters, Anna Tarris, Mary Holdyk, and Julia Geist.

Surviving are his wife Helen (Danshock) Tarris, Port Carbon, one son Leonard Tarris and his wife Rita , Middleport, one daughter Elaine Vrabel and her husband James, Lancaster, four grandchildren Melissa, Stacie, Paul, Gregory, a brother Joseph Tarris , Johnstown.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home 110 N. Second St. St. Clair, PA 17970. Divine Liturgy will follow at 10:30 AM Friday from St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 105 North Morris Street St. Clair with The Msgr. Myron Grabowski officiating. Friends may call from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

William J. Roche Jr.,81, Ashland passed away peacefully on Monday night at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late William J. and Madeline Schmidt Roche. He had been employed as an accountant for the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Ashland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy A. Shivelhood Roche on September 20, 2017 and his brother Gerald Roche.

William is survived by his daughter Theresa and her husband Philip Morgan, Ashland; his sister, Mary Lee Miller, Ashland; his two grandchildren: Brady and Cheyanne Morgan and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday from the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville with Rev. Paul Rothermel officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Fountain Springs. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
