Boil Water Advisory Issued for Tamaqua and Surrounding Areas Starting Wednesday

According to the Tamaqua Borough,  customers may be at increased risked from microbial contamination.

UPDATE:Due to the anticipated weather conditions forecast for tomorrow, the meter replacement has been re-scheduled for next week. Therefore the water boil advisory will not be in effect for 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31st.

---------------------------------------------------------------

As part of an upgrade project at the Still Creek Water Treatment Plant, the Tamaqua Area Water Authority has hired a contractor to replace the finished water meter. The meter is located after the treated water storage tank. As a result, there is an increased chance that the water may contain disease-causing organisms. Therefore, as a precaution, the Authority is issuing this notice. This boil water advisory will go into effect at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

The advisory includes Tamaqua, Hometown, West Penn, Walker, and Schuylkill Township.
