Gillingham Charter to Hold Special Event Wednesday to Commemorate National School Choice Week

Gillingham Charter School will hold a special event on January 24, 2018 to commemorate National School Choice Week (January 21-27, 2018).

The event, which will begin at 1:30PM at the Gymnasium, will feature Student, Parent & Staff Speeches. School Choice Week Spirit Team Dance, Music, Pep-Rally. The event is open to the public.

Gillingham Charter School is located at 915 Howard Avenue in Pottsville.

GCS is a Public Charter school serving grades K-12 with a student enrollment of 230. The Charter School looks to keep its doors open after the Pottsville Area School District had denied the renewal of the charter, but the state Charter School Appeal Board granted the appeal by Gillingham. the CAB issued its written decision on October 25, 2017.

Started in 2011, National School Choice Week is the world's largest annual education-related celebration. The goal of NSCW, which features participation from tens of thousands of schools and organizations, is toshine a positive spotlight on effective education options for children.

During National School Choice Week, schools across America celebrate the challenging, motivating, and effective education they provide to students. At the same time, parents use the week to learn more about the education options available to their children, in advance of the upcoming school year.

National School Choice Week is nonpartisan and nonpolitical, and is not related to any legislative advocacy effort.
